At a Glance – ETFE at One Holland Village
540 m²
of ETFE
The canopy was introduced to support the open character of Holland Village and to create a comfortable environment for visitors moving between shops, dining areas and shared public spaces. ETFE was selected to maximize visible light transmission while reducing heat gain and keeping the overall solution cost-effective.
The canopy consists of 10 double-layer ETFE cushions, each approx. 2.38 m wide and up to 31 m long. The lower layer is transparent, while the top layer includes a silver print that provides shading from direct sunlight. This combination allows natural daylight to filter through while improving thermal comfort below.
Lightweight Solution with Reduced Steel Demand

Transparent lower layer with silver-printed top layer for shading, designed to maximize daylight while reducing heat gain.
ETFE’s low weight helped reduce the amount of steel required for the supporting structure. Vector Foiltec Asia Pacific was responsible for the design, supply, fabrication and installation of both the ETFE canopy and its supporting steelwork. The result is a structure that is efficient, durable and visually light.
Connecting the Development
The canopy helps link the residential, commercial and retail parts of One Holland Village into one cohesive destination. By providing protection from both sun and rain, it supports daily use of the shared spaces and reinforces the role of the development as a neighborhood meeting place.
