Shelter for Everyday Movement
The operators of Tampines Mall prioritised clear pedestrian routes and weather protection for the heavily used connection between the shopping centre and the MRT station.
To achieve this, Vector Foiltec Asia Pacific engineered, supplied and installed a single-layer ETFE canopy that defines the walkway and enhances user comfort.
The ETFE foil surface is printed with silver ink, providing shading from intense tropical sunlight while also protecting pedestrians from rain. The lightweight canopy delivers practical performance without creating a visually heavy structure, ensuring the connection remains bright and welcoming throughout the day.
Integrated Delivery

Printed ETFE for Shade and Rain Protection
The project demonstrates how ETFE can be used effectively at a smaller scale to improve everyday urban infrastructure.
The canopy provides weather protection, supports pedestrian circulation and enhances the experience of moving between transport and retail spaces.
