At a Glance – ETFE at British International School KL
2,800 m²
of ETFE
Originally, the school owner had intended to use ETFE on a previous project in China, but found the right application here in Kuala Lumpur. Vector Foiltec Asia Pacific developed the custom canopy design in-house for the British International School KL – working to the school’s performance needs and budget.
Lightweight Shelter with Thermal and Glare Control

The ETFE canopies are designed to provide shade and protection in hot, humid conditions.
The roof spans a plan area of 59 m × 46 m, with a clear span of over 46 m between columns, offering broad coverage for school sports, recess, competitions and events. Fourteen two-layer ETFE cushions with a printed dot hexagon pattern in a darker shade were used on the canopy. The printed ETFE helps cut UV exposure by about 75 %, protecting students from excessive sun while still allowing daylight through – making the space usable and comfortable even in rainy season conditions.
