The Story of the Project

ETFE Facade on a Vertical Landmark in Singapore

The ETFE facade covers three elevations of the building – nearly 15 stories high with no horizontal joints – using a vertical, three-dimensional panel configuration. On the two front faces, single-layer ETFE in white is synchronized with the LED systems so that illumination and imagery appear integrated across materials. The rear elevation uses a two-layer ETFE system with silver print, providing contrast and making it suitable for projecting images while balancing transparency and shading. This finish supports both daytime visibility and dynamic night-time lighting effects.

The building – associated with Autobahn Motors (ABM) – functions as a luxury “car vending machine” concept, attracting attention not only for its façade treatment but also for its use of large-format LED and interactive visual content. The combination of the ETFE envelope and LED graphics creates an engaging urban presence that supports community interaction and creative programming.

Vector Foiltec Asia Pacific worked with the client and architect Archideas Design to deliver this facade solution, providing expertise in design, engineering, fabrication, and installation of the ETFE panels and associated steel support systems.
