Changi Business Park in eastern Singapore combines offices, retail, and hospitality in one of the city’s most dynamic mixed-use districts. Within this development, the Changi City Point canopies provide both shelter and a distinctive visual identity. Completed in 2012, the freestanding structures use 32 ETFE cushions, each designed with a different surface treatment to vary light and shading effects.
Design Variety with ETFE

LED illumination gives the canopies a striking nighttime identity
The canopies explore ETFE’s design versatility: some cushions feature a printed grid, others use white or matte foils. This combination adds depth and character to the canopy system while maintaining its lightweight efficiency. The choice of ETFE made it possible to keep the supporting steelwork slim and cost-effective without compromising durability.

LED lighting integrated into the ETFE cushions gives the canopies a distinctive appearance after dark. By day, they filter daylight to create comfortable shaded areas; by night, they transform into illuminated landmarks, reinforcing the identity of Changi Business Park.
