Our Tampines Hub features a 3,600 m² two-layer ETFE canopy with custom print shading, delivering comfort, daylight and community space openness in the heart of Singapore.

Our Tampines Hub in Singapore is a vibrant integrated community, sports, retail and lifestyle destination designed to bring people together under one roof. As part of the architectural vision for the hub, a translucent ETFE canopy was installed to create a comfortable outdoor space that balances sun exposure with thermal comfort and visual openness.

At a Glance – ETFE at Our Tampines Hub
3,600 m²
of ETFE
The ETFE canopy at Our Tampines Hub covers 3,600 m² and was developed to provide a comfortable environment for dining, retail, sports, arts and cultural activities. Its design takes inspiration from the concept of natural shade – echoing the cultural roots of “Tampines,” a name derived from the Malay term for ironwood trees that once grew abundantly in the region.
The canopy is a two-layer ETFE system with print patterns arranged in four different silver shades. These patterns modulate daylight, reduce thermal gain, and supply high levels of natural light with anti-glare properties. The arrangement mirrors the shading pattern of leaves, reinforcing the concept of a shaded forest beneath a lightweight architectural roof.
Lightweight Structure with Aesthetic Expression

Steel, gutter, and cladding integration engineered for performance and aesthetics
Vector Foiltec Asia Pacific’s scope of work included the design, engineering and installation of the ETFE system, complete with steelwork, guttering, lower-level cladding and authority submissions. The project team adapted the supporting structure from a simple truss to a single tapering element, reducing material use and opening up the interior space for easier movement and better aesthetics.
Recognition for Sustainability and Inclusive Design
Our Tampines Hub has been recognised for its building quality and community focus. The retail and leisure mall component received the Green Mark Platinum Award by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) of Singapore. In 2019, the development also earned the Platinum BCA Universal Design Mark Award, acknowledging excellence in inclusive design that serves the needs of all users.
