Project Overview

The KCC Mall of Gensan Veranza Mall extension in the Philippines adds 21,450 m² of food, leisure and retail facilities to a major regional shopping centre. At the heart of the extension, the main atria are covered by a printed ETFE cladding system that brings daylight deep into the interior while providing shelter and environmental control.

The Story of the Project

Natural Light and Open Atmosphere

The printed ETFE roof system lets ample natural daylight penetrate the interior, creating a bright, open atmosphere in the retail and communal spaces below. Natural light reduces the need for artificial lighting during daytime hours and improves the ambience throughout the mall.

The lightweight ETFE material also contributes to a sense of spatial openness – making the atrium feel more connected to the outdoors while remaining weather-protected.

Material Properties for Tropical Use

Our ETFE creates a daylight-flooded, bright retail atmosphere.

ETFE foils are UV stable yet transparent, permitting visible and UV wavelengths to pass through. This characteristic not only enhances daylighting but also supports planted greenery when included in indoor spaces. The system’s performance aligns well with the Philippines’ tropical climate, where sun, heat and frequent rainfall make effective shading and daylight control essential in large public environments.
